scholarships

The NABG is honored to provide scholarships to Undergraduate and Graduate students enrolled full-time in Geoscience programs at an accredited college or university.

Scholarship candidates must demonstrate academic excellence and commitment to the mission of NABG. The purpose of the scholarship is to prepare candidates to be the workforce of the future.

Funding for scholarships – totaling over $300,000 – has been achieved through fundraising activities and corporate donations. 

The 2025 Application Period is now OPEN.

Awardees will be notified in late August and recognized at the Fall Conference in Golden, Colorado!

Applications will be accepted through August 1st. Please review the applications below and complete the correct form based on your classification. Applications will not be considered complete until all letters of recommendation and transcripts have been received.

Undergraduate Scholarships

  • Five (5) $1000 awards will be presented
  • Applicants must be undergraduate students enrolled at an accredited college or university.
  • Applicants must be United States citizens or Permanent Residents
  • Recipients must be pursuing studies in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences (EAS), Geology, Science or Engineering (or its equivalent) with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Special consideration will be given to individuals who demonstrated experience or a strong commitment to serving historically underserved or underprivileged populations. (Highlight this experience in your Personal Statement)

Graduate Scholarships

  • Five (5) $1000 awards will be presented
  • Applicants must be graduate (Masters or PhD) students enrolled at an accredited college or university.
  • Recipients must be pursuing studies in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences (EAS), Geology, Science or Engineering (or its equivalent).
  • Applications will be evaluated based on Academic Achievement, Personal Statement/Essay, Letters of Recommendation, Career Goals and Extracurricular Activities.
