Sign up below to attend the NABG Field Trip exploring the Geology of the Rocky Mountains. This trip will be led by Colorado School of Mines geologists.
Field Trip Description
The conference field trip offers a unique opportunity to explore the fascinating geology of the Rocky Mountains through guided visits to key sites around the Golden area and the iconic Red Rocks region. Participants will hike along the Bob Weimer Trail and Clear Creek, gaining insight into sedimentary structures, faulting, and the uplift history of the Front Range.
Attendees will also visit Dinosaur Ridge near Red Rocks Amphitheater, one of the world’s most famous dinosaur track sites, where the group will observe well-preserved fossil footprints and Jurassic/Cretaceous rock strata. Join us to deepen your understanding of the Laramide Orogeny, stratigraphy, and paleontology in a dynamic field setting.
Transportation from the host hotel (Holiday Inn Express – Golden/Denver Area) and lunch will be provided.
Attendees will be selected on a first-come first-served basis as space on the trip is limited. NABG will contact all confirmed registrants – those who register after slots have been filled will be put on a waitlist. The waitlist will be cleared as spots become available in order of registration.
The Golden area is full of natural beauty, with lots of great hiking nearby. Be sure to check out downtown Golden in your free time.
