On behalf of the conference planning committee, organization leadership and membership, it is with great pleasure that I invite you to join us for the 40th Annual Conference of the National Association of Black Geoscientists (NABG). The world is in the process of recovering from an unprecedented year in 2020. While 2021 has been challenging in its own right, we are all attempting to begin the process of progressing our lives towards some semblance of normal again. Our conference planning committee has worked to create a virtual forum to ensure that we continue to remain connected.
Last year we successfully executed our first ever virtual conference and recorded the greatest attendance of any conference to date! In my opinion, it was one of the best conferences that we have ever held. Our hope is to exceed that experience with the program that has been developed for 2021. The theme that has been chosen is “Looking to the Future” because this gathering serves as an opportunity for us as professionals, students, and an organization to turn the page on 2020 and look ahead to the future. Since the growth and development of student members is a huge part of that future, we want to make every effort to ensure that they can join us. To that end, we are excited to share that we are waiving the registration fees for all students this year!
Collaboration has been one of the hallmarks of NABG since its inception and will continue to be as this organization evolves. Much like last year’s virtual conference that showcased participants from academia, industry and government, this year will be no different. We look forward to hosting representatives from various aspects of the Geosciences.
Whether you are a student, technical professional, professor or researcher, there is no question that being a part of this virtual conference will present you with an opportunity to further your career pursuits in the Geosciences. I truly hope that you will strongly consider joining us this year for what promises to be a unique conference.
